First of all know some issues with beerakaya pachadi we can also call this as beerakayi thokku pachadi.This is simple delicious cpachadi(chutney) is a great way to start a meal in andhrapradesh(India).usually we take this beerakay chutney(pachadi) with rice this is a great combination let us see how we can prepare this recipe .

Reuired Ingredients for Beerakaya pachadi:

  • Ridge gourd(beerakaya)                     250 gms
  • Urad dal                                                   1 1/2 tbsp
  • Red chillies                                              4
  • cummin seds                                           1 tsp jeera/
  • mustard seeds                                         1/2 tsp
  • fenugreek seeds                                       little
  • pinch sugar                                              little
  • Tamarind                                                  little
  • Oil                                                               2 tsp
  • salt                                                              enough for taste
For tempering

  1.  Mustard seeds        1/4 tsp
  2.  Red chilli                   1
  3.  Pinch of hing/asafoetida
  4.  spring curry leaves   1

 

 

Procedure for cooking

1) First of all Wash the ridge gourd and chop it into chucks. and keep them Keep aside.

2)Heat the  pan, add oil,add urad dal, cummin , mustard and fenugreek seeds. Once cummin seeds starts to splutter then  add red chillies and stir all of them for a minute. Take them into plate

3)In the same pan add 1 tsp of oil and the choped ridge gourd and fry for 1-2 minutes or until it becomes brown.

4)Once it cools add the ridge gourd to the above grinded powder with tamarind,salt,sugar and grind to a fine paste.

5)Now for tempering heat  pan and oil  then add mustard seeds,hing. Once it splutter add the red chillies and curry leaves and saute it for 1/2 min and immediately pour it over the chutney.

TAke it into a serving bowl thats it tasty beerakaya pachadi is ready to be served. serve this recipe with rice or roti is also good.

Note:
1.Do not peel the ridge gourd as it gives a unique flavor and it is full of fibre.
2.Do not overcook the ridge gourd as it will loose its flavor.
